Vosne-Romanee 1999, Jacques Cacheux

Thick almost opaque black cherry colour. Slow, thick and rich “Warren Buffet” legs. Heady, plum juice aromas. His dark materials nose. Spicy oak. Cloves. Plums, violets. Mid-power rather than fully open. Thick plum and cherry fruit. Evolves to attractive cassis. On the palate astringent tannins that have rounded. Quite hefty. Mature on the palate but not complex on the nose. Perfect for a pan-fried steak in its own juice or rose lamb chump. Good with aged hard cheeses like comte, mature cheddar, or cave-aged gruyere.
