The Clos des Lambrays grand cru is a monopoly vineyard which has been making significant quality improvements since the late 1990s. The grand cru is aged for 18 months in 50% new oak barrels. The 2000 has a cherry red colour with some browning. Beguiling, intense and heady aromas of crushed cassis, raspberry liqueur, plum and oak. Savoury palate with slightly stewed red berry fruit yet an underlying freshness persists. Fat berry longueur on the back palate supported by medium acidity. A point of tannin remains on the finish. This 2000 already has the evolution to enjoy a broad spectrum of aromas and an integrated texture. At its peak from now for another 2 years. Very interesting.
