Saint-Romain 2004, Alain Gras

Pale yellow. Nose opens with bright citrus aromas combining lime and lemon. Lovely evolution to meadow flower honey, apricots, tree sap, more honey and a soupcon of apricot liqueur. On the palate stoney, angular, savoury, and chalky. Quite a backwards wine which needs more time to flesh out and achieve more elegance. Tasted blind we confused it with a Pernand which is grown on similar higher altitude limestone-based terroir.
