Chablis 1er Cru 2006, Selection Jean-Marc Brocard

The Chablis 1er Cru area covers a massive 775 hectares compared with 210 hectares for all of Puligny. Amazingly, one is rarely let down by a Chablis premier cru. This reasonably-priced negociant Chablis, made from grapes selected and vinified by Jean-Marc Brocard proves the point with a typical light, silvery hay colour, aromas of hawthorn, clover, apple and a little creamyness. Crisp and dry on the palate with an eye-squeezing tangyness from the high citrus acidity. Excellent with flaky roasted fish like cod or haddock. Ca se boit hein!

Indeed cod and chablis were meant for each other.
