Appealing liquid ruby colour very reflective. Fine cherry and raspberry nose with some oak. Evolves to broccoli and restrained licorice. A tad roasted. Good medium-bodied structure, fresh acidity, raspberry fruit, some rhubarb and lemon. Tangy, dry finish. Appropriate companion for roast partridge, pigeon or pheasant in the style of Rules of London (where in true 19th century style many wines are served by the pint-sized jug) rather than the more sumptuous Château d'Igé in the Maconnais where the pigeons are so succulent they must gorge themselves on lobster and caviar.
