Saint-Aubin 2005 "Le Ban" 2005, Henri Prudhon

Saint-Aubin is a village that offers one of the best value/quality ratios in the whole of the Côte d'Or and the Henri Prudhon & Fils domaine is one of the long-standing producers - since 1712 at least. The website has some tremendous family photos. This Saint-Aubin village delivers the classic white Burgundy experience one expects from this Puligny fringe village: straw yellow colour, remarkably limpid, peach and oak aromas with orange pith, white strawberry and vanilla chiming in at the end. Good ripe lemon and oak tannins on the palate with benchmark Burgundy balance. This is Quite Nice in the scientific Burgloblog grading scale. Think snails, jambon persillé and the fabled pressé de laperau.
