Marsannay 2002, Château de Marsannay

Marsannay, sits at the top of the Côte-d'Or and many people believe its wines are a tad too green. But the better producers such as Bruno Clair and Trapet Père et Fils frequently produce tasty liquid morsels even in tricky years like 2004. This 02 Marsannay confirms the potential of the appellation: immediate cherry, plum and strawberry fruit on the nose laced with oak sinews. A full palate, if somewhat rustic, offers solid fruit and oak tannins although not much length. Carry on up the Marsannay!
