Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Clos St Jean" 2006, Blain-Gagnard

This domaine does not feature in the Guide Hachette for the last 3 years. As far as I know this is a small domaine based in Chassagne and I have not had the pleasure of tasting there yet. 2006 will be a very good white Burgundy vintage and this Blain-Gagnard embodies much of what is good about the year: bright colour, freshness, pear and citrus concentration with excellent minerality. Compared to the many 2006s I tasted at the annual London Burgundy tastings in January this is now starting to close up. Wait until 2010 to retaste the 2006s. There isn't a wow factor but its good stuff. (My Chassagne addiction continues, but that is how the cork pops).
