Marsannay 2004, Méo-Camuzet

The Morey 2004 from Méo-Camuzet hit the spot when tasted back in June last year. In recent weeks I have been on a Marsannay "bender" and couldn't resist tasting this wine. A dense cherry colour heralds a bright cherry and damson nose with a sprinkle of vanilla. Good vibrant black currant and red currant fruit on the palate with a rounded style that takes the edge off the sometimes-rustic tannins. Good depth for a Marsannay especially in 2004 which was low on sunshine. It proves yet again that diligent vineyard management and excellent wine making skills can produce good results whatever the weather. On a par with the Marsannay 2004 from Jean & Jean-Louis Trapet.
