Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2007, Château de La Tour (vieilles vignes)

Courtesy of the Corney & Barrow Burgundy 2007 tasting. Until I saw the labels on the different Clos de Vougeot bottles from Château de La Tour I had no idea that the bottle with the red lettering called Cuvée Classique is an inferior offering from younger vines. The vieilles vignes Clos de Vougeot (with the black and white lettering) is the real deal! Piles of fruit, punchy, potent, a massive finish, a true monster of a wine. Now this is what I call MONASTIC!
