Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 1990, Armand Rousseau

Tasted alongside the majestic Charmes-Chamertin 1989 from the same producer. Orangey cherry colour with good density, aniseed, roast pheasant, red cabbage, leeks cooked in pinot, perfumed -- rich aromatics. Flavours of cassis, blackberry, remarkably fresh and also thick. Tannins still evident. This 1990 still has concentrated dark berry fruit and real heft. This may sound unlikely but this Charmes 1990 from Armand Rousseau needs another 5 years!
