Chambertin Grand Cru 2009, Louis Remy

Le Chambertin vies for the crown of "best Gevrey grand cru" with Clos de Bèze. The latter usually produces 61,000 bottles versus 51,000 for Le Chambertin. For comparison, a single Bordeaux estate such as Château Figeac produces 96,000 bottles. The reason for this long-winded introduction is that the wine is hard to decipher at this immature time of its life. On the nose there is a compote of strawberry and raspberry fruit.
