Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2009, Rossignol-Trapet

Chapelle-Chambertin (22,000 bottles a year) is one of the three "minor" grands crus in Gevrey, the other two being Griottes (12,000 bottles) and Ruchottes (15,000 bottles). Licorice and a raspberry tone on the nose, this grand cru has been aged in 40% new oak barrels and the vendanges started on September 12th. Soft berry fruits, mineral, fresh, enjoyable. This is a Gevrey for people who like their grands crus to be stylish rather than powerful. Tasted courtesy of the Corney & Barrow Burgundy 2009 tasting.
