Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes 2007, Vincent & Sophie Morey

This domaine was previously known as the domaine Bernard Morey and we tasted there in July 2009 having previously visited Bernard Moreau just down the road who was surprised to see us. "Morey" or "Moreau" sounds similar mispronounced by an Englishman. This is a pleasantly simple red Chassagne. Nice soft cherry and red plum aromas with an overlay of vanilla. Good tangy berry and red stone fruit, a thicker savoury finish. Eminently drinkable and more approachable than the often rustic Chassagne pinots. This one, I like.
