Monthélie 1er Cru "Clos des Chênes" 2007, Eric de Suremain

My translation of "Suremain" is "Steady Hand" and my experience of this Monthélie domaine is of steady and reliable wine-making. This wine has a good thick ruby colour, red cherry aromas complemented with prominent aniseed. An excellent blend of fruit, berries crunchy tannins with a long, sweet herb finish. Will continue to evolve until 2013-14. The same wine in the 2008 vintage was also well-vinified and offered more complexity than your run of the mill Monthélie. Photo shows the main Monthélie tributary valley in August 2010.
