Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Clos de l'Arlot" Monopole 2010, Domaine de l'Arlot

This rare chardonnay Nuits-Saint-Georges is a tremendous wine. Lush flavours of pear, cherry juice, peach juice, pine kernels and almonds. Aged in just 10% new oak to add structure and additional flavour compounds. Despite that low dosage of oak, rich, lemon, white peach, long, mineral, a lovely fresh finish. Un vin digeste. Let me say it again, a tremendous wine on a part with a Corton-Charlemagne and unfortunately priced at that level too. Scores 26-28 / 30 for a Nuits-Saint-Georges premier cru blanc. Photo shows some fine wines ageing in the Domaine de l'Arlot cellar.

Rare... as is the Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru "Les Bousselots" of Chevillon-Chezeaux made of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc which is far from priced grand Cru.

  2. Thanks for the pointer. I'm a big fan of these oddities. Domaine Michel Lafarge has an astounding Bourgogne Passetoutgrain which could challenge quite a few Pommards for power and spice.
