Nuits-Saint-Georges "Les Charmots" 2010, Thibault Liger-Belair

I was delighted to be able to visit this venerable Nuits-Saint-Georges domaine for a tasting having arranged one for friends in July 2009 and heard excellent reports. This NSG starts on plum, cherry and vanilla -- juste comme il faut. Thibault explained to us that this terroir has 30 centimentres of clay and then limestone and is at the bottom of the golden slope. Aged in 30% new oak, this NSG has fine berry fruit, good lively tannins, attack and length. Excellent energy. Scores 20-23 / 30 for a Nuits-Saint-Georges  appellation.
