Volnay 1er Cru "Les Mitans" 2010, Michel Lafarge

The 1er Cru "Les Mitans" lieu dit is on the lower slope of the Volnay appellation on the Pommard side. The domaine owns 0.39 hectares of vineyards and the vines have an average age of 49 years. The terroir is classic Volnay premier cru with lots of small stones, good drainage and not as much iron in the top soil as is found in the Volnays from the valley floor. This is a perfumed wine, aromatic, more on the flowers than on the fruit. Fresh, linear, mineral, elegant, slight. A ballerina of a wine. Photo shows the one and only Alina Cojocaru, the world's most feather-like dancer who I am sure is a Volnay fan.
