Meursault "Clos de Mazeray" Monopole 2009, Jacques Prieur

Incredible to think that the "Clos de Mazeray" is the only village quality wine produced by Domaine Jacques Prieur on the Côte d'Or. The domaine owns the entire 2.57 hectare walled vineyard (Clos). In 2009 the domaine harvested entire bunches of grapes which were crushed in a pneumatic press and no batonage was undertaken. Aged 5 months in a large oak cuve and 12 months in oak barrels of which 20% were new. This is a highly enjoyable and classic 2009 Meursault with its aromas of hazelnut, almond, pine kernel, lemon and daffodil bulb (jonquille). Pleasant pear, apricot flavours. Rounded, soft, pleasant freshness. A good example of the fruit-driven 2009 vintage. Scores 21-23 / 30 for a Meursault appellation.
