Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "Les Castets" 2007, Hubert Lamy

This wine is an old favourite, first tasted at the domaine in February 1993, how time flies! Seductive nose of brambles, dates, plum jam, laced with apple. Reflects the sunny spring of 2007. Glorious ripe berry fruit. Multi-layered strawberry, cherry, blackberry, cassis. With lively fresh tannins that boost all the flavours. Full, round. Savoury finish, a touch chewy (for a pinot). This Saint-Aubin suggests that the 2007s from the "lighter" vineyards are now starting to reach their plateau. And it is is a beautiful view. Scores 24-26 / 30 for a Saint-Aubin 1er Cru. Travel back in time to a 2007 tasting note on the 2005 Saint-Aubin "Les Castets". This domaine has now become so successful the rapport qualite/prix is no longer as attractive as it once was. Better value can now be found elsewhere.
