Volnay "Clos de la Cave" 2007, J-M Bouley

Since a tasting at the domaine perched above the village of Volnay in May 2007, the Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley has been a popular choice amongst the writers of the Burgoblog. This Volnay starts on aromas of brambles, black cherries, strawberries, a little murky and mysterious. An edge of oak. Superb fresh berry fruit which contrasts with the ripe nose. Flavours more on raspberry and red currant. Linear not broad. This is "un vin digeste". Very enjoyable but not in the league of a Michel Lafarge I presume largely due to the very low yields of Lafarge. Scores 20-22 / 30 for a Volnay.
