Savigny-les-Beaune "Les Montchenevoy" 2007, Patrick Javillier

A reflective, medium straw yellow colour announces a blend of savoury and stone-fruit aromas. Morello cherries dominated by a resinous and lemony bouquet. More mysterious than effusive. On the palate this Savigny 2007 has a really good concentration, there is backbone, there is orange fruit, there is Cox's apple and dried peach. A mineral finish with excellent breadth. Fantastic underlying marzipan and a crystalline quality I usually associate with very fine Puligny 1er Cru. Interesting to compare with the tasting note from the same wine but in July 2010 to see the evolution away from the fruit towards a more savour style. Scores 26-27/30 for a Savigny blanc.
