Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Maltroie" 2007, Bernard Moreau

Tasted blind this Chassagne has a medium yellow colour that shows some bottle age and is viscous. An initial nose of warm lemon, lemon sponge cake and vanilla points to the use of at least some new oak in the vinification process. Very fine on the nose, hints of icing sugar. Fresh citrus flavours, good acidity, flowery. Clear quality there but didn't offer the complexity I would associate with a top Puligny premier cru. Scores 24-25/30 for a Chassagne premier cru. Compare with the tasting note for the Maltroie 2004.
