Nuits-Saint-Georges 2011, Michel Gros

I confess that I am not much of a Nuits St Georges expert, spending far too little time north of Aloxe-Corton. I generally anticipate a wine which is backward in nature and four square in character. This 2010 NSG did not disappoint. Closed on the nose there were hints of red berry fruits, acorns, orange confit. Very fresh on the palate, a real tension there, good length, fresh raspberries, big structure. Not what I expected for a 2010 which I thought would be more on the black fruits with riper tannins. Who knows how this will turn out? Scores 20-25/30 for a NSG.
