Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Folatières" 2011, François Carillon

One of several premiers crus Puligny wines tasted at the François Carillon domaine the Folatières stood out from the fine examples of Champs-Gain, Combettes and Perrières. A focused nose of lemon, clementine, white flowers and limestone. No real evolution at this stage which is unsurprising. Shows great promise and class on the palate: minerality, freshness, composite citrus fruit flavours, grip with a length that suggests more fruit depth and flavour in 5 years time. A classy and classic Puligny which is nevertheless approachable. Scores 24-27/30 for a Puligny premier cru.
