Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Chalumeaux" 2011, Domaine Matrot

Tasted at Domaine Matrot in Meursault, the "Chalumeaux" lieu dit is close to the tiny appellation of Blagny which sits on the hill between Meursault and Puligny. White peach, grapefruit, lemon on the nose which gives an elegant impression. A second nose of soft yellow roses. This Puligny 1er Cru from the bright and fine 2011 vintage is vif on the palate, more on the minerality and acidity with a touch of plumpness, lemon flavour and a fresh finish.Captures the terroir well. Suggests 2011 is a lighter year for earlier drinking without much potential for depth and complexity. Scores 21-23/30 for a Puligny 1er Cru.
