Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Caillerets" 2011, Domaine des Lambrays

Tasted at the domaine with the managing director Thierry Brouin this Puligny 1er Cru from the top-notch "Caillerets" vineyard next to "Le Montrachet" has a lemon tart nose, it is soft, there is a soupcon of lemon sponge cake, icing sugar. Rich, a lovely texture on the palate, very pleasurable in the mouth with underlying minerality behind the full, plump citrus fruit. Already pleasant to drink now and will improve over the next 3 years. Interesting to compare with "Clos du Caillerets" 2011 from Jean Chartron and the "Folatières" 2011 from François Carillon. Scores 22-24/30 for a Puligny 1er Cru. Photo shows Les Caillerets on Juyl 17, 2013.
