Bourgogne Blanc "Cuvée Oligocène" 2010, Patrick Javillier

This white Burgundy is produced from the lieu-dit Les Pellans next to Meursault-Charmes. The wines of Patrick Javillier have a distinctive style potentially influenced by his use of a Vaslin press which allows the juice to oxidize more than a pneumatic press would permit. Vinification is also in old style concrete vats not stainless steel. This allows further oxidation during the wine-making. White peach, honey and marzipan on the nose. The bouquet is delightful, floral, feminine and rich. Wonderful orange, peach and apricot fruit with an underlying minerality. Medium plus, plus body; medium to high ripeness and medium acidity. A unique and wonderful house style. Scores 28/30 for a Bourgogne blanc.
