Vosne-Romanée "Aux Réas" 2001, A F Gros

Third wine in a flight of six reds tasted blind, this Vosne is made by François Parent but retains the A F Gros brand reflecting the vineyards Anne-Françoise owned when she married. A distinct brick red slightly foxy rim indicates at least a decade of age and the colour is more in the reds than the purples. Initial nose of serrano ham. It's surprisingly quiet. There are wafts of raspberries, continues on meaty notes, bread and baked raisins. This Vosne has medium body, medium- acidity. There's cherry fruit on the palate, its soft, pleasant and velvety. Enjoyable, not impressive and perhaps is 3 years or so past its best. Scores 22/30 for a Vosne.
