Bourgogne Blanc 2015, Paul Pillot

Tasted at the Justerini & Brooks en primeur Burgundy tasting I deliberately wanted to taste this regional appellation since the lowliest wine in a viticulteur's range is often the best benchmark of quality control. One also finds that juice from the younger vines in the village appellations will be declassified into the Bourgogne blanc. This Bourgogne blanc is a tremendous little number. Floraland lemon on the nose. It is fresh, very good, linear with a super mineral finish. Points to the fact that the less well exposed vineyards in 2015 will have benefited from better ripeness than usual without having the potential to get over ripe. Very good value. Scores 25-27/30 for a Bourgogne blanc.
