Central Otago "Nine Barrels" Pinot Noir 2015, Rockburn

This is the top end wine from the Rockburn estate in Cromwell. All grapes for this 2015 Nine Barrels came from the domaine's Parkburn vineyard. In common with other reserve style wines from Central Otago producers this young wine has not yet unfurled much of its foliage. A quartz / ground stone nose. Warm wood. Touches of mint and eucalyptus. Aged 33% in new French barriques and 33% in one year old. Fine texture, consistent cherry fruit. Elegant. Needs time to open up.
