Central Otago "Tiger" Pinot Noir 2013, Chard Farm Winery

One of the top end wines from the Chard Farm Winery which mostly produces pinot noir (70%) as well as a wide range of white wines. This bottle from the Lowburn sub-region has an immediately appealing nose of ripe Victoria plums and sweet spices. Multi-layered fruit with raspberry, ripe red currant jelly and hints of dried porcini. Red licorice. There is real intensity on this wine. Wonderful fruit concentration. Very fine texture. Medium tannins. Long. Fresh appetising finish. Needs to open up yet always shows that it will be a superstar for Otago pinots. A brilliant wine.
