Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des Ducs" 2009, Marquis d'Angerville

This "Clos des Ducs" helps explain the challenges of tasting such young wines. I have no doubt that it will be superb in 5 years time but given how closed the wine is today there are not many clues to go on. Worth bearing in mind that this wine is 80% more expensive than the lovely Clos des Angles. So here we go: fruit-driven (plums), serious. Big structure, tannins, concentration. No expression right now. Needs another 6 months to be understood. Likely needs 8 years to fully wake up. Vin de garde. Tasted courtesy of the Corney & Barrow Burgundy 2009 tasting.
